VISIT A CACAO FARM
Green Acres is a privately owned and operated working chocolate farm and botanical gardens. Originally owned by the United Fruit company, the farm boasts 150 year old cacao trees! Green Acres provides the perfect environment to learn about the flora and fauna of Panama. Hosted by the sweet and knowledgeable “Chocolate Guys,” the two hour tour flies by. Guests regularly see howler monkeys, toucan, sloth and poison dart frogs. A tasting follows the tour which will delight any chocolate lover and convert even those skeptics!

SNORKLE AT CORAL RESTORATION PANAMA
As fortune would have it, our “next door” neighbors are the founders of Coral Restoration Panama. The project helps a coral nursery to propagate and grow reef-building corals to outplant into regionally endangered coral reefs. The Coral Restoration Center also promotes education and awareness programs in the community with the understanding that shared knowledge will be the key to continued success.
Artificial reef structures are placed in the sea to provide suitable habitat for fish repopulation needs and immediate supplementation to erosion and sediment control, in addition to being a coral nursery project. Local craftsmen produce the structures in organic shapes so that they blend into the natural landscape as much as possible. Made from concrete specially formulated to be an acceptable substrate for coral, they become a platform for re-colonization of coral reefs.
