Stranger snacks

Stranger Snacks on the horizon. As promised here is the recipe for the Black Sesame & Moringa Balls.

It helps to have a moringa tree, I know if you are like me and not that lucky, it helps to have a friend with a tree. If you are living outside of the tropics, moringa powder will work just fine

1/2 Cup Raw Almonds

1/4 Cup Black Sesame Seeds

1/4 Cup Raw Moringa or tsp of moringa powder

1/4-1/2 Cup coconut flakes

16-18 Dates

1/4 tsp Pink Sea Salt ( yes mom, you do need the salt!!)

Place all ingredients in a high speed blender (Vitamix) on low and gradually increase the speed as the machine needs. Meaning, when it becomes difficult for the blades to turn, increase speed! Scrape all ingredients onto a plate and roll it up! You might want to roll the balls in chia seeds or cayenne pepper, or even more coconut! As you roll, you will notice how greasy these little guys actually are. Sesame seeds are high in fat and when you have a mixer that is strong enough to actually begin to break them down you can see the oil that is expelled. Store these in a refrigerator.

I definitly prefer these with raw cacao but was attempting to not make EVERYTHING chocolate. For the chocolatey version I would add 1/4-1/4 cup of raw cacao nibs or powder. Raw cacao is abundant in Costa Rica but is super caffeinated which meant I could not eat any of these treats after mid-day. Try increasing the salt or adding hot pepper or turmeric to make the flavor more potent.

Buen Provecho!
